Our Baby is 4!

Happy 4th Birthday to Mila today!  Can’t believe the time has flown by so fast.  Wait, yes I can.  It keeps happening with my other kids, too.

We had sweet Mila’s party this past weekend, along with our family Easter Egg Hunt while everyone was in.

This year Mila wanted a “Morose” party.  Morose is Misery’s cousin on Ruby Gloom. Mila already loves Coraline and Goosebumps, so this wasn’t exactly news to us.  Mazzy found the show on Netflix and they watched every episode.  All 40 of them.  Here’s the catch:  The show ended in 2007.  There is zero merchandise for a party out there.  And to complicate matters more, Morose was only on one episode!

But, I believe that a kid’s birthday should be all about them.  So I did my best to create a Morose party.  I think it turned out pretty great!

Finished product done by a local gal.  Turned out perfect!  I smudged it pulling it out of the box.  Oops!

I went with the bright colors of the show and had to add a little bit of spooky stuff!

I just love the awesome ideas from Pinterest!

All in all it was a great day and I’m pretty sure we had one happy birthday girl!

Gonna Use What I Have!

Laura, you and I are so much alike.  I am always picking things up for new projects instead of finishing ones that I have already started on.  And spending time on Pinterest makes me want to start about 100 more projects.  So, I got into my trunk and dug up a few things that I intend to work on before purchasing any more things.

Going to get back into embroidering.  Mazzy and I started embroidering last year and then just kind of stopped. My MawMaw even gave me all of her leftover patterns.  Super retro-cute.  I’ve been seeing some really cute stuff done with embroidery hoops and fabric. I definitely want to do some of those.  Those little hoops I have will be just perfect for that.  I might even stitch something inside.  Or not.  If I decide to do some stitching, I going to head over to Sublime Stitching.  I just love her patterns!  She has such a cool collection and has regular sales.

I’ve been seeing some really cool button art as well, so now I know what I want to do. I’ve also seen some really awesome button trees that would look beautiful for the holidays.

Coming across the yarn made me want to get back into crocheting or doing some of those yarn covered wreaths.  So many possibilities!

Gettin’ Stuff Done – SOA

So, I’ve been a little busy around here.  Taking my own advice. SOA multi-tasking, if you will. Finishing projects.

I’ve finished Jazz and Mila’s suitcases.

I used Ghostrider and X-Men comics books for Jazzton’s.

Mila’s was taken from a book of my mom’s.

Getting some things ready for my sister’s wedding. My first bouquet.  I thought it turned out pretty cute!

And I’ve also been throwing down on lots of hair accessories.

I was hoping to get a lot of things checked off my “to-do” list before vacation.  And we leave tomorrow!  Woot!  I’ve been packed for three days.  Is that weird?  Am I so ready to go?  Oh yes!  See ya when I get back!

Party Overload

My gosh, between Heather Bailey, Donna Hay and Hostess with the Mostess, Mila’s party may be exploding from decorations and tasty treats!

Good thing we have a big family, because I may have to invite strangers off the street just so I can serve up some of these goodies.
When Mazzy was gifted Donna Hay’s latest kid issue I fell in love with the cover, and let’s be honest, the whole magazine.  Aren’t these ice cream bowls to die for?

They are made using water balloons and white chocolate!  White chocolate people!

I’ve also picked out a 3 cake from the same issue that I will be making.  I wish that I could share a link, but I can’t seem to find a picture on the web anywhere.

And Heather Bailey has so many wonderful ideas on her site that I can’t make up my mind!  I’d been thinking of making another ribbon topiary for a centerpiece.  I’ve made 3 in the past 2 weeks for 2 different occasions and they turn out just beautiful.  But now, I am seeing so many other things that I might want to do!  Look at these goodies!

Decisions, decisions.  🙂

How about a ribbon moss ball,

or these tissue paper poms?

Those and MANY other fabulous ideas were picked up over at the Hostess with the Mostess!

I could even make a garland!  Oh guys, I am spinning out of control…

Goodies in the Storage

Mila’s birthday is less than a month away.  I was pretty much set on getting her a new swing set/play yard until I found these treasures!

The vintage baby bed belonged to my sister and I.  The little wooden table was Mazzy’s, but I can’t remember where it came from.  It was broken in a move.  When Mazzy had it, I liked the character of the chipped wood, but I think I will repaint it for Mila.

See the wonkiness of this bed?

I’m hoping the Mr. can fix this up.  At first I thought I could just cover up the darling decals with masking tape and repaint the bed.  So cute, huh?

But I don’t think it will turn out as cute as it would if I just start from scratch.  After getting inspired by Laura’s post, I think I will just use some of my own pictures.  I have gobs of books from when I was a tot.  Can’t wait to get started on these fun birthday presents!

This is the first time I will be redoing anything metal, so any and all helpful hints will be appreciated!
